Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of South Africa.
Georgia, the nation with European aspirations, has centuries-old history and traditions. And I am honoured to represent this country in the Republic of South Africa - the nation with unique, rich and diverse historical and cultural heritage of its own.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 23 April 1993 while Embassy of Georgia in Pretoria started operation only in September 2011. As the first ever Georgian Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, I assumed my functions on 2 November 2012.
The partnership between Georgia and the Republic of South Africa is based on mutual respect and full understanding of the value of sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is an important cornerstone to build on. Shared objectives of strengthening freedom and democratic institutions, pursuing economic development and increased welfare for citizens are conducive to enhancement of bilateral bonds.
European and Euro-Atlantic integration remain major priorities of Georgian foreign policy. However, the opening of the Embassy in Pretoria, as part of growing Georgian diplomatic network of recent years, tells on the resolve of Georgian people and government to deepen our friendships across the globe. We are keen to grasp all partnership opportunities. Having this premise and witnessing ever increasing credence of the Republic of South Africa on the African continent and beyond, we are keen to boost people-to-people links and explore new avenues of bilateral cooperation in the areas of politics, economy, business, culture and education.
I am hopeful that any citizen or person resident in South Africa will find this web-site interesting and useful. The site offers data about bilateral relations between Georgia and South Africa, Georgia's foreign policy agenda, various links to topics of internal politics, economy and culture. One can also access practical tips, including consular information, for visiting our hospitable country for business or leisure.
I have the honour to convey heartfelt compliments to few members of Georgian diaspora in South Africa and express my desire of close cooperation. I believe that we should not underestimate the value of our collective or even modest individual efforts in developing friendly and business connections between the two countries.
Any queries sent to the contacts indicated on this website are welcome. We shall respond to all your questions and appeals in the shortest time possible. And with gratitude we shall focus on all comments that may enhance Embassy activities and improve our efforts in duly representing Georgia in the host country.
Thank you for visiting this web-site, and please accept my best regards.
Sincerely,
Beka Dvali
Ambassador of GeorgiaTo the Republic of South Africa
