Information on South African business delegation to Georgia

 

During 18-23 November 2017, the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of South Africa organized a fact-finding visit of another South African business-delegation to Georgia. The delegation was composed of Mr. Marius Heyns, the Chairman of South Africa-Georgia Chamber of Commerce (SAGCC) as well as Mr. Izak van Niekerk and Mr. Cornel Burger, the Executives of “Raubex” – one of the leading, Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)-listed, South African construction companies, which also is the member of SAGCC.

For the “Raubex” the objective of the visit was to identify investment and business opportunities in Georgia, as the company plans to expand its operations by investing in the country and participating in various construction and infrastructure projects.

During the abovementioned visit, the members of the delegation held working meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgia’s Roads Department, Produce in Georgia and Anaklia Development Consortium. In addition to interacting with the mentioned state agencies, the delegation members also met the representatives of Georgian private companies, including “Award” and “Black Sea Group” as well as visited various construction sites and quarries

It is also notable that the delegation held meeting with Ambassador Tedo Japaridze, the Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime-Minister of Georgia, who briefed the delegation about foreign policy and economic achievements as well as the priorities of Georgia.
